Like most things in life... With great responsibility comes great responsibility. I would hope if there is a shortfall that it is temporary with a detailed plan of A. How to fix it and B. how to prevent it from happening again.
Great job--it's always worth the wait (in this case, waiting the weekend for face to face time) to get the other side of the story. By not jumping to conclusions & asking at least a few Qs ("help me understand X")...adds respect to your now strengthened work relationship and grows wisdom for both of you. Vs the times I've insisted my perception was right, didn't take the time to find out more and then I look like the one who was the crazy person. There are always two sides...good intentions but miscommunication happens a lot. Few people assume the best of others and operate from that position. Well done!
I just can't believe some of the comments here. This is a CLEAR violation, regardless of the reason the agent wanted to go in. Carolyn does NOT need to go and put specific instructions into her MLS for agents not to show the property on certain days, and she should NOT have to remove the lockbox to keep agents from BREAKING THE LAW, AND OUR RULES. It's simple, if you don't have an appointment ahead of time, you DO NOT enter the property, period. Otherwise, it's legal trespassing AND a clear violation of Article 1 SOP, as Alec pointed out.
Anything more than a card I think lowers the bar...if you've provided them with good and useful information isn't that a gift? Thanking them for the opportunity is fine..,a gift I think only diminishes our value.
Does what they say they are going to do. Doesn't buy listings. Returns phone calls. Helps clients feel as safe as possible through consistent guidance and communication. Is trustworthy in all senses of the word. Knows when to ask for help. holds other pros accountable. Requires a certain accountability from members of the public as well. Pro plus? Is knowledgable enough to also be creative and take the job out of missionary position when that's what will get it done.
