I had Vonage and the price kept going up and up. Last I knew they were $29.99 a month plus tax. I went to VoIP and have it as part of my internet service. Works great. However none of them will work if the power goes out. You would need local phone service like Fairpoint or whatever it is in your area to have land line without power and sometimes thats questionable too.

Neither will work during a power failure without a back up power supply. Sometimes the reasons you want a service determine which one to pick and money is not always the most important reason. I have not used magic jack in about nine months for outgoing.
